Typing With Wet Paws: Cat’s Eye View Edition

Tails up, Storm Troopers! I’m Storm, you’re awesome, and this is Typing With Wet Paws.

Here is a closeup of me to brighten your day. Finally, I get a break from my emotional support animal duties to make a blog entry. Mama Anna has been needing a LOT of support these days, as one can imagine. I am also not thrilled with all the changes going on around here. Mama Anna says that this “looking for work” and then eventually “going to work” is so that we can remain in this apartment, soon to hopefully have something called a “roommate,” which means a different human in Aunt Linda’s old room. I reserve my judgement until I meet any potential candidates. I am also not thrilled about the possibility of moving, but as long as we are together, I guess we will be okay.

Anyway, what Mama Anna calls the Holiday Grief Tour is in motion. First there was the Falling in Love Anniversary, which was exactly as hard as she thought, and then her birthday, which was hard, but did include dinner with Aunt Debbie and Mr. Aunt Debbie (I have not met him yet. He has to earn the Uncle title.) She is NOT looking forward to Thanksgiving because it does double duty as the accident anniversary, and that is not a happy day. Her friend, Miss Erin, asked her to something called Friendsgiving, which has the word “friend” in it, so it sounds okay. Not for cats, though. Hmph. I may consider forgiving her because she is moving the cat tree from the old Aunt Linda place into our room, once the old chairdrobe chair is out. The cat tree was where I hung out with Aunt Linda, but let’s be real. Aunt Linda was the big draw there, so I would prefer for the tree to be in a room I actually use, aka, wherever Mama Anna is.

Tomorrow, Aunt Melva will come and help Mama Anna do Human Stuff, including take some of the things Aunt Linda knitted to where they can help some humans who need warm things for the winter. I am glad I have fur.

Serioiusly, look at those splootches.

Mama Anna and I got up early this morning because the police were at the house next door. It was loud. Justice was, presumably, served. Mama Anna could not go back to sleep after that. I could, but chose to stay up with her. What did she decide to do? Change the sheets. I have been very protective of the bed for a while now, to the point where Mama Anna gave up and put one blanket down as the bottom sheet and then another blanket on top of that one. This time, she insisted on her favorite sheets. I voiced my objection. The humans got to vote yesterday. This morning, it was kitty’s turn. No surprises, there are now actual sheets on the bed. I guess they are okay. They are soft and warm and her favorites. They were Papa’s favorites as well. I guess they can stay.. She did put my bed back on what is now my side of the big bed, which is where it belongs.

One of the things Mama Anna and Aunt Melva will do tomorrow is look for a way to get a good internet connection at home. We have been depending on FM radio for now, and that is not sufficient. Mama Anna needs the outside world. Also me. I get catnip before she heads out for the day, and we have cuddles and play Red Dot when she gets home. Also people food for her and kitty food for me.

that pink thing on top of the floral pencil case is a travel pillow, not a bra

There has been some talk about moving my litterbox into Mama Anna’s room because a new roommate might not want strange cat poo in her room. I think that’s assuming a lot about a person we haven’t even met yet. I say give the person a chance. I am also reserving judgement about any changes that may come when Mama Anna has an out of the house job. Or in the house job if we get actual home internet so she can do remote work. Personally, I would rather things go back to what they were before, but Mama Anna says that can’t happen, so I guess we go forward.

For those who are wondering if Mama Anna is writing, the answer is yes. Aunt Melva spent much of her drive here on her last visit, thinking of ways for Mama Anna to write a story inspired by her own situation, only to find out that …Mama Anna already started and has a whole outline. So there. Mama Anna also wrote in her journal earlier that she very much wants to get back to work on Her Last First Kiss. She does her tappity taps on the keyboard on Google Docs, so interwebs will be useful. Maybe taking a laptop (there are several older ones Mama Anna needs to sell or recycle) to where there is public interwebs. We will see once she gets one of those job things. I hear they mean I get more toys and treats, so I guess it will be okay. As long as we get to be together, I can handle it.

What’s up with you?

headbonks, Storm
